Reds shortstop Zack Cozart, back in his Louisville Bats days.
Cozart was the best defensive shortstop in baseball this year, according to Fangraphs. And one of the worst hitters. Though many fans want the Reds to upgrade at shortstop, I’m not sure that’s a smart use of payroll.
April 2009 - Phil Hughes on the mound for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees.
Hughes, with the Minnesota Twins this year, fell just one out short of meeting an incentive that would have given him a $500,000 bonus. The Twins offered to give him the money anyway, but he refused to accept it. (!)
Hughes had 186 strikeouts and just 16 walks this season. His 11.6/1 K/BB ratio is the best in MLB history.
May 13, 2013 - Starting pitcher Yohan Flande on the mound for the AAA Gwinnett Braves.
Flande is starting for the Colorado Rockies tonight. He’s only in the big leagues because of the many injuries suffered by the Rockies pitching corps, but he’s pitched pretty well, all things considered.
