January 25, 2014 - Hank Aaron and Al Downing, the pitcher who gave up the record-breaking home run to Aaron. They were at the BBWAA New York Dinner, where they received the “Willie, Mickey and the Duke Award” – given to baseball personalities “forever linked in history.”
June 11, 2010 - Syracuse Chiefs outfielder Justin Maxwell fields a fly ball.
Maxwell has since been traded to the Yankees, claimed off waivers by the Astros, and traded to the Royals. The Royals announced today that they’ve avoided arbitration with Maxwell, signing him to a one-year deal.
April 8, 2010 - Starting pitcher Ivan Nova on the mound for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees.
He was facing Aroldis Chapman (who was a starter back then). Nova struggled that night, and was in line to take the loss, but a blown save and a late rally pinned the loss on Louisville Bats reliever Enerio del Rosario. Mark Melancon closed it out, and the Baby Bombers won, 5-4,
The Yankees avoided arbitration with Nova today. He got one year, $3.3 million.
